Energy Conservation is the way to immediate cost savings. That was the message at the Feb 23rd Energy Conservation – Wise Choices for Manufacturers program. One hundred nine people attended the event. Welcoming remarks came from new DBED Secretary David Edgerley, Baltimore County Economic Director, David Iannucci, and CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis. Tom Gallagher, GM Powertrain-Baltimore Transmission and Ron Belbot, Mittal Steel followed with a view from their respective companies that covered both purchasing issues and specific things to do to conserve energy. Laurie- Wiegand – Jackson, President International Association of Energy Engineers and Dan Weed, Eneractive Solutions provided in depth coverage of both new initiatives and legislation to assist companies and specifics actions at the company level. One revealing fact is that states like New York, New Jersey and California are far ahead of Maryland in providing inc entives for business for energy conservation and sustainability.
